Located in Terrell's renovated Union Pacific Train Depot, Kaufman County Senior Citizens Services, Inc, (KCSCSI) has been instrumental in assisting seniors for over 25 years. Our mission is to provide quality, dependable services to the residents of Kaufman County.

Meals on Wheels

This program is designed to provide a nutritious, balanced, hot meal for homebound people over age sixty who are challenged to cook for themselves. Approximately 60,000 meals are delivered annually in Kaufman County, The lunches are prepared fresh daily and delivered Monday through Friday by local volunteers.

Meals on Wheels is supported by the combined efforts of city, county, state and federal governments in addition to contributions by the clients themselves, concerned citizens, and the United Way.

Meals for Special Needs Citizens

Occasionally citizens under the age of sixty can get assistance with a hearty lunch as well. The Texas Department of Aging and Disabilities can assess these clients for the Meals on Wheels program. Contact KCSCSI's Director of Aging for more information.

Center Meals and Activities

Seniors over sixty who come to the activity centers located in Forney, Kaufman, Kemp, and Terrell have conversation, camaraderie, activities and a wonderful lunch awaiting them. Each center is unique in its' offerings and takes pride in catering to the local seniors. Dominoes, music, games, sewing, quilting, crafts, bingo, trips, health seminars and guest speakers are some of the activities found at the centers.

KART

Today, citizens of all ages and physical abilities have the freedom to get their jobs, shopping, medical appointments and to visit friends and family, thanks to the transportation services offered by KART. By calling a day ahead, citizens can secure a ride anywhere within Kaufman and Rockwall counties. Two days a week the bus travels to Dallas, providing services to hospitals and doctors' offices. Normal hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with extended hours on an as-needed basis.
