Qualifications for Employment

Each KART employee holds a high standard of professionalism. Our clients are the top priority. Fully uniformed and ready to go, each driver is equipped with the essential training to assist each client as needed.

Each driver is certified in Passenger Assistance Training (PAT) and CPR/First Aid assistance.

KART management is constantly searching for any new training offered to drivers to enhance their professionalism and abilities.

With a full time Dispatcher and Operations Manager, each driver receives the complete training needed before receiving an assigned roster/schedule.

Qualifications

  • Must have Class B CDL
  • Must pass Department of Transportation Physical for Certification
  • Must pass a Department of Transportation Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol Screen
  • Knowledge of Kaufman and Rockwall County areas – a plus

Will be trained to tie-down wheelchairs and operate wheel-chair accessible lifts on each KART vehicle.

Driver Job Description

  • Each driver must hold a Class “B” Commercial Drivers License and pass a pre-employment drug test and physical prior to employment with KART.
  • Responsible for care, upkeep and cleanliness of vehicle(s) assigned.
  • Does a thorough walk-around check of vehicle she/he will be operating that day.
  • Checks all fluids daily, as well as tire pressure.
  • Operates vehicle in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Follows all Texas Department of Public Safety rules and guidelines.
  • Responsible for collecting fare listed on TRAPEZE manifest when passenger boards bus.
  • Responsible for safety and comfort of all passengers being transported, including help getting on and off the bus if required.
  • Responsible for insuring each passenger is buckled up before moving vehicle and that wheelchairs are properly secured.
  • Assures they arrive at destinations in a timely manner. Work and medical appointments are priority.
  • Responsible for fueling vehicle at end of day to assure tank is no less than ¾ full. Turns in all fuel tickets daily to the office.
  • Performs light maintenance of vehicles assigned her/him, i.e., wash & groom weekly, oil change every 3,000 miles, reports all other maintenance requirements to Operations Supervisor.
  • Responsible for vehicle maintenance reports, turns in on timely basis.
    Each driver to attend all training sessions.
  • Use of tobacco products is prohibited on vehicles, either by driver or passengers.
  • Runs errands when time permits, and fills in where needed.
