Meals on Wheels - Hot Meals

The Meals on Wheels (MOW) Program provides nutritious, balanced, hot meals for homebound citizens in Kaufman, and Navarro counties over the age of sixty who are challenged to cook for themselves. Lunches are prepared fresh daily, and are delivered Monday through Friday by local volunteers. There are approximately 140,000 meals delivered annually in Kaufman and Navarro Counties which are supported by the combined efforts of city, county, state, and federal governments. Contributions by concerned citizens, the clients themselves, and the United Way provide an invaluable foundation for the success of this essential program.

Who Qualifgies for the Meals on Wheels Program ?

Senior citizens over the age of sixty who are homebound may apply for meal service.  Also, citizens under the age of sixty who have special needs may qualify.  Contact the Texas Department of Aging and Disabilities for specific information if you are under sixty.

Meals on Wheels - Frozen Meals

Clients who live outside the hot meal delivery area  can participate in the frozen meal program.  Five quality meals are boxed and prepared for freezer storage and delivered weekly.  A meal can be heated in the oven or microwave and be ready to eat in minutes.

Meals on Wheels Volunteer

The success of the Meals On Wheels program depends on the dedication of numerous volunteers.  The nutritional value of the lunch is just the beginning.  Our volunteers tell us the most rewarding part of delivering meals is getting to know the seniors and bringing them a word of cheer and heartfelt concern.
