Who Qualifies ?
Client Eligibility
To be eligible for the Meals On Wheels program, a person must live in Kaufman or Navarro Counties, be 60 years of age or older, be homebound, (even for a short time), be unable to prepare a nutritious meal, and not have anyone available to prepare their meals on a regular basis. Eligibility for MOW is based solely on need and does not depend on income.
Client contributions are a crutial aspect of our Meals On Wheels program budget. Daily, weekly, or monthly donations toward the cost of meal service allow KCSCSI to continue delivering meals to all citizens that need them. KCSCSI will not deny service to anyone who is unable to help with the cost of the meals, but it is important that everyone contribute at the level they can afford.

Application Process
Anyone may refer a person for MOW program services. Most of our referrals come from family members, hospitals, home health agencies, friends, and from the clients themselves. We accept referrals over the phone at 972.563.1422. After basic information has been provided over the phone, a case worker will set an appointment with the potential client through an interview to determine eligibility. The client's name, address, and phone number must be provided to attempt a home visit. At the time of the referral call, KCSCSI will try to obtain information about the client's health problems, as well as date of birth.
Meals For Special Needs Citizens
Occasionally citizens under the age of sixty can get assistance with a hearty lunch as well. The Texas Department of Aging and Disabilities can assess the clients for the Meals On Wheels program. For more information, or to make a referral please call 888.337.6377.

Frozen Meals
Clients who live outside the hot meal delivery area can participate in the frozen meal program. Five quality meals are boxed and prepared for freezer storage and delivery on a weekly basis. These meals can be heated in an oven or microwave and be ready to eat in minutes.
